Dimapur, October 7, (NE): The Hindu community in Nagaland along with other states of India is celebrating their religious festival, Durga Puja with pomp and gaity in different parts of Nagaland.
Nagaland Governor R.N Ravi, CM Neiphiu Rio, Deputy CM, Y Patton and many others have convened their wishes to celebrate the day.
In consonance with a call for a ban on single-use plastic, the festival is being celebrated in an eco-friendly manner this year.
Huge and magnificently decorated puja pandals have been erected, specially in Kohima and Dimapur, with residents celebrating the pujas with traditional fanfare and gaiety. Tomorrow, dated October 8, the idols are to be submerged in the river.
The interesting part of the program are melas being organized at different places of Dimapur and other places. Several cultural programmes were also being held.
Many business houses are also giving offers and discounts in most of the malls particularly at Dimapur city due to the festive period.
