Kohima, February 29 (NE): Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) along with its constituent units had an emergency Presidential meeting on February 29, 2020 to discuss further course of action as per the 7 days ultimatum served to the excise department on February 21, 2020 with regard to the closure of all liquor dens/ outlets and thorough check of the availability of Liquor in Dimapur.
In a press release by media cell DNSU, the Union extends its appreciation towards the prompt and positive response led by Zhaleo Rio, Advisor for Sericulture, Excise and Minority affairs, government of Nagaland.
DNSU in its emergency Presidential meeting reaffirmed to remain vigil, act and make sure that Nagaland liquor total Prohibition ( NLTP) Act, 1989 is effectively enforced as long as the act exist. DNSU along with its units extends its fullest cooperation to the concerned department and enforcing authorities and also warned for stern action against those erring government officials if found indulging in malpractices, it stated.
Further, it mentioned that the DNSU along with its units appreciates Naga Tribal Union Chumukedima Town (NTUCT), Christian Forum Dimapur (CFD), Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO), Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Dimapur Ao Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (DABPF) and well wishers for their support extended towards the common cause and urged the general public to come up with the same spirit for a better society.
