District Magistrate Kohima prohibits assembly and movement of more than 5 persons

Kohima, November 02 (NEx): The District Magistrate of Kohima Shri Mohammed Ali Shihab A, IAS, prohibits the assembly and movement of more than 5 (five) persons from 6:00 pm on November 01, 2020 till 6:00 pm on November 04, 2020.

As per the ECI guidelines for conduct of elections during COVID-19 and in order to ensure By-election to the 14- Southern Angami – I (ST) AC in free, fair, safe and peaceful, in a streamlined manner and with the close of campaign with just 48 hours left for poll, the District Magistrate issued a prohibitory order prohibiting the assembly and movement of more than 5 (five) persons with effect from 6:00 pm on November 01, 2020 till 6:00 pm on November 04, 2020.

He also stated that the order is promulgated and applicable only within the limits of 14- Southern Angami I (ST) Assembly Constituency, including the three Polling Stations area under Ward no. 5 Kitsubozou (Chotobosti), in order to maintain peace and also to prevent spread of COVID-19 cases in Kohima district with more symptomatic cases being reported.

Violation of the aforementioned order will tantamount to punitive punishment under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, it said.
