Dimapur, June 15: Director General of Police, Nagaland, T. J. Longkumer said in the age of social media, police should be able to establish a system of cooperation with the public in order to maintain social harmony.
Launching the police website, www.police.nagaland.gov.in at, Chumukedima, under Dimapur district today (June 15), Longkumer said Nagaland police is attempting to go digital in many of their operations.
The Police Officer appealed to the public to cooperate and support the initiatives of the police so that it can provide better security to the citizens.
Longkumer said as part of transparent governance, the website with interactive features will enable visitor’s greater freedom of inquiry and satisfaction. He added that the Nagaland police are planning to have cyber cell in all the districts with proper infrastructure.
The DGP also informed that the Nagaland police have recently set up a social media cell under Nagaland Police Inspector General Range, to deal with fake news and messages that incite social unrest. Earlier, the DGP flagged off a motorcycle squad (e-patrol) to assist the existing police machinery in the district.
