Dimapur police solves Rs 20 lac staged robbery; 4 persons arrested

Dimapur, October 21 (NEx): Dimapur police arrested four (4) persons for robbery of rupees 20-lakh from a cash transportation vehicle at Thahekhu area in Dimapur on October 15, 2020.

The four arrested persons are identified as (i) Khekaho Yeptho (37-yrs), (ii) Aghato Yeptho (34-yrs), (iii) Hokito Achumi (31-yrs) and (iv) Anato Achumi (37-yrs).

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, T Relo Aye informed that the main accused who works as a cash executive of a cash pick-up and delivery agency in connivance with his associates concocted a fictitious story to the police that during a cash transportation to a bank, a sum of Rs. 20,00,000/- (Rupees twenty lakhs) was robbed by motorcycle borne miscreants in Thahekhu area.

However, owing to the inconsistent statement of the employee with further corroboration of technical data analysis by the police investigation, the employee finally confessed to the fabricated act of crime, ADCP Relo added.

Consequently, the cash amount of Rs.15,40,000/- (Rupees fifteen lakhs forty thousand) was recovered from three different locations within the town.

In this regard a case has been registered in Sub-Urban Police station and investigation is underway, a press note from the ADCP informed.
