Dimapur DTF deliberates on more steps to combat COVID 19

Dimapur, March 17 (NE): Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Anoop Kinchi IAS, convened a meeting on March 17, 2020, with the Dimapur District Task Force members to deliberate on more steps to be taken as preventive measures regarding COVID 19.

In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, expressed satisfaction on the steps, measures and preparedness level taken so far in the district, and further directed the district medical Department to activate the control room by tomorrow and also felt the need for setting up training and awareness cell to continuously work and create awareness to the people about the precautionary steps to be taken.

The meeting also deliberated and decided for setting up helpline desk and screenings at Dimapur Railway station and the different check gates under Dimapur district. Anoop also appealed the GBs and NGOs for spreading information in their respective colonies through announcements, distributing pamphlets or talking to people and telling them not to panic but to take the necessary preventive measures. DC also emphasised on the need for proper disposal of medical wastes and to make people aware on how used masks needs to be disposed.

In the meeting, Commissioner of Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo informed that the cyber cell was taking care of any false information about COVID 19 that is being spread in the social media forums and also cautioned for stern action.

Deputy CMO Dimapur, Dr. Antoly appealed to the people not to panic stating that the Department was well prepared in Dimapur as well as the whole State and doing their best with the available resources. “If immune system is strong it will cure by itself so no need to panic so much,” she advised. Just maintain social distance, avoid crowds, maintain one meter distance from each other, maintain personal hygiene and avoid touching mouth and nose, she added.

Airport Director Dimapur, M. Zhimomi informed that 100 percent thermal scanning of all the passengers are being done in the airport, hand sanitizers placed and extra cleaning are being done by the cleaning staff to ensure that the airport area is properly sanitised.

District Surveillance Officer Dr. Imtiwabong also highlighted on the preparedness level taken up by the department in Dimapur district.

Members of Dimapur District Task Force including Army, Police, CISF and others attended the meeting which was held in the conference hall of DC Dimapur, said a notification from DIPR.
