Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire stresses on the need to stop practice of appointing proxy teachers

Kiphire District Mission Authority under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, organized block level sensitization on community mobilization training at Hopongkyu today (June 13).

Addressing the programme, Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, M. Shayung Phom stressed on the need to stop the practice of appointing proxy teachers by the Village Education Committee.

He said the State government conducts interview to select the best and educated young people to teach the children in order to impart quality education.

He said proxy teachers, who are not trained, hamper the quality of teaching in the schools. Phom also asked the various Education Committees at the village level to be aware of new government policies under Samagra Sakshi.

Joint Mission Director, Samagra, Dr. Kevi Rio, emphasized that results in government schools have not been satisfactory mainly due to the practice of proxy teachers.

Dr. Rio further asked parents and community leaders to encourage dropout children to go for vocational training so that they can earn their living.
