Kohima, February 13 (NEx): Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland Y Patton who is also in charge of PWD (R&B) department, along with Advisor National Highways, Dr. Longrineken, inspected the road construction site at NH-29 to take stock of the situation on February 13, 2021.
The Dy. CM instructed the Executive Director of NHIDCL to consider maximum public safety and ensure quality workmanship. It may be notes that the stones and boulder slides at Pakala Pahar on NH-29 has caused immense hardships to commuters and affected the passage of essential commodities due to the ongoing four lane constructions.
Meanwhile, he also appealed the general public to understand the gravity of technical and practical aspects and urged the citizens to extend all possible cooperation in this ongoing mega project.
Dr. Longrineken, Advisor for National Highways, briefed the NHIDCL officials and department officials to maintain quality workmanship and to give priority on durability of the road. The Advisor also directed the NHIDCL officials for timely completion of the ongoing work.
Meanwhile, Patton also visited the by-pass road to see the condition and feasibility of the road from Dimapur to Kohima via 7th mile Khopanala and New Medziphema site under urban road with the stretch of 18.5 km, which will be an alternative route during the four lane construction at NH-29.
During his interaction with the Department officials at the proposed site, the Chief Engineer (H) & Urban Engineering Wing, Er. Yanbemo Lotha stated that the repair and restoration work of the existing road has already started and assured that it will be completed at the earliest possible time.
The Dy.CM was also accompanied by Shri. Kazheto Kinimi, Advisor for CAWD & NSDMA, Engineer-In-Chief (NPWD), Chief Engineer (NH) and Chief Engineer (H) & Urban Engineering wing, Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police, Dimapur and department officials.
