DDRC gets a disabled friendly toilet & distribution of aids and appliances to persons with disabilities held

Dimapur, January 31 (NE): A camp on distribution of Aids and Appliances to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) was held in DDRC, District Hospital Dimapur on the January Twenty Nine, organised by DDRC in collaboration with NILD, Kolkata and Prodigals Home.

A notification said that Hon’ble Medical Minister, Shri. Pangnyu Phom , was the Special guest, while MS. Diethono Nakhro , State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities was the Guest of Honor.
The Inaugural function was attended by various Officials from the Medical department (Dr. T. Chishi, Director Health, CMO and MS Establishments), District Administration, Social Welfare Department, leaders from various NGOs, Prodigals Home and the Differently abled community led by the NSDF (Nagaland State Disability Forum).

A range of Aids and Appliances were distributed, which included – Tricycles, Wheelchairs, CP Chairs, Axillary and Elbow crutches, Walking stick, MSIED kit, Smartcane, Braille kit, BTE Hearing aid, etc. Altogether, a total of 244 PwDs were provided free aids and appliances.

Meanwhile, a Disabled Friendly Toilet, which was constructed in the DDRC premises by the Dimapur Municipal Council, was inaugurated on the same day by Smt. Diethono Nakhro, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. The inauguration was held in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri. Pangnyu Phom, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Shri. Anoop Khinchi, CMO Dimapur, Dr Pangjung Sangtam, MS Dimapur, Dr Kheshito Zhimomi and other Officials and Persons with Disabilities.
