Kohima, November 20 (NEx): The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Orenthung Lotha flagged off the new NST bus service from Wokha to New Riphyim today, November 20, 2020 at Nagaland State Transport office premise Wokha. The new bus service commenced from today.
Flagging off the new bus, the DC said that with the introduction of new bus service, the transportation problem faced by the people in the area will be reduced to a great extend not only for the citizens of New Riphyim but also for the entire range which consists of around six villages.
The DC also stated that the Government is providing social service to the people through this new public transport to ease the problems faced by the people and urged the people to use the service with a sense of responsibility for long term benefit.
Lotha also thanked the initiative of Dy. Chief Minister, Minister for Home and R&B, Yanthungo Patton and other officials involved in providing the much needed service for the people. He also particularly thanked the department of NST for helping and providing its services during the pandemic in transporting stranded passengers.
Divisional Manager NST, Visio Yepthomi who also spoke during the programme, said that the district has achieved another development by adding one more bus service, where he urged the public in the area to take proper care of the vehicle and use it judiciously and also appealed to look into the welfare of the drivers and conductors manning the vehicle. He further called upon all to extend co-operation to the department so that the department can give back the service required by the people.
The village authorities on behalf of the citizens of New Riphyim and Old Riphyim especially thanked Dy. Chief Minister Y. Patton, Transport Minister Paiwang Konyak and General Manager Nagaland State Transport for providing the 32 sitter bus and fulfilling the much needed service to the people.
The Nagaland State Transport department introduced the new 32 sitter bus service from Wokha to New Riphyim for the convenience of travellers with affordable means of transportation. The new route will cover a distance of 22 KM and operate with service NO.519 (Up) from Wokha and service NO.520 (Down) from New Riphyim, which will commence from November 20, 2020.
Further, Yepthomi informed that only 50% of the sitting capacity will be allotted/ used keeping in view of the pandemic crisis at the same time the fare rate is also at fixed @ Rs. 60/- but the fare will be reduced to 40 rupees during normal times. The bus will ply on daily basis two trips per day.
Meanwhile, Rev. Abemo Jungio Pastor, Wokha Town Baptist Church, offered the dedicatory prayer for the new bus.
