DC Phek Orders Restriction On Hunting & Burning Of Forest

Kohima, March 04 (NEx): The District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of Phek, Razouvolie Dozo, NCS, issued an order, restricting the random burning of jungle/forest and all types of hunting wild animals within Phek district with effect from March 1st, 2021.

The order says that instructions have been issued time and again by the Government with regards to burning of jungle/forest and indiscriminate hunting of wildlife in Nagaland.

The uncontrolled forest fire and indiscriminate hunting of wildlife not only destroys the forest, but also it’s flora and fauna and also it significantly accelerates environmental degradation and poses tremendous threat to individual/community life and property. Therefore, the preservation and conservation of our ecological environment and wildlife is the collective responsibility of every single one of us, the order stated.

The DC said that the order is promulgated restricting any village/town, community/group of persons/individual from indulging in random burning of jungle/forest and restricting all types of hunting wild animals within Phek district.

Further, it stated that any violation of this order shall be viewed seriously and penalized as per relevant sections of the law.
