DC Peren Withdraws Section 144 of CrPC

Peren, April 17 (NEx): The Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate Peren, Sentiwapang Aier, NCS, on Saturday withdrew Section-144 of CrPC which was imposed in specific areas of Peren district on April 14, 2021.

In an order issued on Saturday, April 17th, 2021, Aier stated that after ascertaining the recent law and order developments, and that the situation in Jalukie and the adjoining areas has normalized, Section-144 of the CrPC, 1973, which was promulgated through an order on April 14, 2021 is hereby withdrawn with immediate effect.

Earlier, the United Zeliangrong Youth Federation (UZYF) has called for an indefinite bandh of Government offices, vehicles and activities from April 13th, 2021 in protest against the Govt. of Nagaland for non-fulfilment of the charter of demand to book the culprits of the three victims of March 22nd, 2021 at Lamhainamdi Village under Peren, within 10 days.

Following the incident of burning down the vehicle of ADC Jalukie on April 14, 2021 by the protesting Youths, the Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate, Peren has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC, prohibiting assembly of more than 5 (five) persons and carrying of any lethal weapons and arms in specific areas in Peren district with immediate effect until further Order.
