Congress slams Nagaland Govt. for not announcing steps to help poor

Nagaland Congress on Friday slammed the state government for extending the lockdown without announcing any steps to help the poor people

Kohima, May 29 (NEx): Nagaland Congress on Friday slammed the state government for extending the lockdown without announcing any steps to help the poor people. ‘People are now sandwiched between the threat of Corona virus and hunger,’ Congress stated.

The Government of Nagaland on Friday, declared the extension of the existing total lockdown in the state till June 11, 2021. This is the second time the government is extending the lockdown.

Earlier, a week-long lockdown was imposed from 06:00 pm on May 14, 2021 till May 21, 2021. Later it was extended for 10 more days, till May 31st, 2021 due to the prevailing pandemic situation and to break the chain of spreading the disease.

Nagaland Congress slammed the government for not taking any steps to help the poor people. Taking to twitter, Congress said, “Extending lockdown without announcing any relief measures for poor and needy people will have devastating effect, as they are now sandwiched between threat of Corona virus and hunger.”

It is pertinent to note that, with the extension of existing lockdown till June 11, 2021, the State will be under lockdown continuously for a period of 28 days.
