CM Rio Inaugurates 30-Bed COVID Hospital at Nagaland Police Referral Hospital Chumukedima

Dimapur, May 25 (NEx): The Chief Minister of Nagaland, also the Chairman of High Powered Committee on COVID-19, Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday inaugurated a 30-bedded COVID hospital at Nagaland Police Referral Hospital Chumukedima in the presence of HPC members and other officials.

CM Rio was accompanied by Deputy CM Y Patton, Health Minister Pangnyu Phom, State Spokespersons for Covid-19 and Minister Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu, Advisor IT, Science & Technology, NRE, GoN, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Principal Secretary H&FW Govt. of Nagaland, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner & in-charge of COVID-19 related activities in Dimapur District, Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, DGP Nagaland, T. John Longkumer, IPS, along with other officials.

The COVID hospital at Nagaland Police Referral Hospital will further strengthen the capacity to treat COVID-19 patients. Grateful to everyone, especially to our frontline workers, who have been working tirelessly since the start of the pandemic, said Chief Minister Rio.

The DGP Nagaland, T. John Longkumer, IPS brief the delegation on the progress made on the 75 Bedded Covid Hospital, which is under construction in the complex.

Earlier, the HPC team visited the District Hospital Dimapur and took stock of the situation and also inspected recently installed PSA Oxygen Generation Plant, which is funded under PM-CARES.

The team also visited CIHSR for site inspection of a new 176-bedded COVID-19 Hospital and inspected the new power Transformer setup and commissioned by the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) at Referral Hospital Sub-Station as requested by the state government.

Responding to the call of the state Government, POWERGRID team set up and successfully commissioned the Power Transformer within 2 days on May 22, 2021, for reliable power supply to oxygen plant and nearby areas. The new power transformer will also add to the power system reliability of BMA’s Liquid Plant situated at Naga United village, which was earlier fed by 5 MVA Transformer.

The HPC team also visited and assessed the situation at the COVID-19 makeshift hospital at the Institute of Hotel Management which is being converted into a 100-bedded hospital. The place has the capacity to further increase the number of beds to handle cases requiring hospitalization, updated CM Rio.
