Kohima, November 14 (NEx): The District Level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra, Kohima and Nagaland State Social Welfare Board hosted an online program to celebrate Children’s Day with the special needs children of Cherry Blossoms School, Kohima today, November 14, 2020 at 10:00 am.
A press release from the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) Nagaland, today informed that, Sarah R. Ritse, the Commissioner Secretary to the Government of Nagaland & Administrator, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board, in her keynote address urged the participants present to increase the awareness on education, rights and care of children especially those with special needs. She stated that the online program was organized to celebrate the Children’s Day with the special children under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Program, despite the pandemic.
Diethono Nakhro, State Commissioner, Persons with Disabilities urged the students to move forward to make the world a better place and officially launched the painting competition under the theme “My three wishes”, while Purnima Kayina, Headmistress, Cherry Blossoms School addressed the impact of the pandemic especially on the students with special needs, informed the press release from SRCW.
Meanwhile, Moderator Juliana Medom, BBBP Team Leader, Nagaland Sate Social Welfare Board informed that Children’s Day is being celebrated in all the districts through the Deputy Commissioners.
The program started with a Bible verse recitation by Rajesh Sunar. A special number was presented by Ketoulhoutuo Zuyie and also included the participation of some of the previous students of the school. Vote of thanks was given by KesoneinuoKense, District Coordinator, District Level Centre for Women- Mahila Shakti Kendra, Kohima. A total of 46 persons attended the program, the press release said.
