
May 28: Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio met Ambassador of Taiwan to India, Chung Kwang Tien in New Delhi today (May 28).
The meeting focuses to seek technical cooperation from Taiwan for collaboration in the bamboo sector. Also discussed issues relating to fostering partnership, strengthening ties and building mutual trust.
It also proposed to establish an “India- Taiwan Bamboo Technical Centre” in Dimapur. The Chief Minister called upon experts from Taiwan to intervene and assist in augmenting the bamboo industry in Nagaland potentially to compete in the international market.

The Taiwanese Ambassador also expressed his willingness to tie up with Nagaland and further promote this industry. Both parties agreed to work out details for formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding at the earliest to promote the bamboo industry.
