"Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls" campaign to be launched in Nagaland

Kohima, March 21 (NEx): Advisor water resources department Nagaland Namri Nchang is launching the Jal Shakti Abhiyan-II campaign in the state with the theme ” Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” on March 22nd, 2021, along with the rest of the country to focus on water conservation, in the office of the chief engineer, water resources department Kohima.

The focus of the campaign will be on the water stressed districts and blocks throughout the nation. The campaign is scheduled to be launched nationwide by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, which will last till November 30th, 2021, an update from the state government said.

The aim of the campaign is to nudge all stakeholders to adopt proper rain water harvesting measures with people’s active participation and to spread awareness among citizens about the need of water conservation.

The campaign will focus on important water conservation interventions like water conservation through adoption of rain water conservation interventions, enumeration of water bodies, repair, renovation and restoration of traditional and other water bodies /tanks, reuse of water and recharging of aquifers, watershed development and Intensive afforestation.
