Kohima, October 13 (NEx): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central election committee on Tuesday declared the candidates for the upcoming by-election for Nagaland Legislative Assembly for Pungro – Kiphire constituency.
The BJP National General Secretary, Shri Arun Singh has released the candidate’s details for different States which are heading for by-election on November 03, 2020, including Nagaland.
Shir Lirimong Sangtam has been named as the BJP candidate for 60- Pungro – Kiphire constituency. Sangtam is an active member of BJP 60 Pungro-Kiphire from Singrep Village.
It is pertinent to note that, BJP and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) are pre-poll allies who formed the Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA) for the 2018 assembly election.
The by-election for 14 – Southern Angami – 1 and 60-Pungro- Kiphire constituencies in Nagaland are scheduled for November 03, 2020 to fill vacancies of two Assembly constituencies in the State Legislative Assembly.
According to the Election Commission of India notification, the last date for filing nominations is October 16, 2020 and the date for withdrawal is October 19, 2020.
The date of counting is scheduled for November 10, 2020, the Election Commission of India stated.
