Kohima, October 13 (NEx): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, (NPCC) on Tuesday declared the candidates for the forthcoming by-election for Pungro – Kiphire constituency.

NPCC President, Shri K Therie handed over the party ticket to Kiphire District Congress Committee President, Shri Khaseo Anar as the party candidate for 60- Pungro-Kiphire constituency.

The by-election for 14 – Southern Angami – 1 and 60-Pungro- Kiphire constituencies in Nagaland are scheduled for November 03, 2020 to fill vacancies of two Assembly constituencies in the 13th State Legislative Assembly. The last date for filing nominations is October 16, 2020.

NPCC President, K Therie said that the party will not fill any candidate for the 14- Southern Angami-1 Assembly Constituency as Naga People’s Front (NPF) has decided to field their candidate. He said the party will work out soon with NPF to support each other.

The Congress party is strong and it will not give a walkover to BJP in Pungro- Kiphire constituency as other political parties are unlikely to field candidate for Pungro, Therie stated.

Meanwhile, Shir Lirimong Sangtam has been named as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for 60- Pungro – Kiphire constituency.

According to Election Commission of India notification, the date of counting is scheduled for November 10, 2020.
