Kohima, November 30 (NEx): Hornbill Festival 2020, in the Land of festivals- Nagaland, is to be celebrated completely on virtual mode through various audio, visual media channels and Social Media platforms, as informed by the Nagaland Tourism Department.
This is the first time in the history of Hornbill Festival, that it is to be celebrated virtually. The decision to go completely virtual was taken by the Government of Nagaland considering the pandemic COVID-19 situation in the State. The content for the same will be sourced from Government archives, informed tourism department.
Meanwhile, the tourism department has laid out the broadcast list for ‘Nagaland Virtual Hornbill Festival 2020’ which include the channels NDTV 24×7, NorthEast Live and Doordarshan Kendra (DDK).
The timings for the broadcast of the virtual festival are:
1st December 2020- 10:30 am
5th December 2029- 12:30 pm
1st December 2020- 11:30 am
3rd December 2020- 03:30 pm
Doordarshan Kendra (DDK):
1st December 2020- 05:30 pm
4th December 2020- 03:00 pm
The ten day long Hornbill Festival also known as the ‘Festival of festivals’, organized by the State Tourism and Art & Culture departments is celebrated every year from 1st of December till December 10th, at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama under Kohima district in Nagaland. Whereas, this year due to the pandemic, the state has decided to follow the new norms and is set to virtually host the festival.
One day ahead of the festival, many are anticipating the ‘Nagaland Virtual Hornbill Festival 2020’ while some are yet to lighten up for the virtual festival. Time will tell how the people of Nagaland reacts to the new way of Hornbill Festival.
