Dimapur, September 08 (NEx): One person was killed and four others injured in an accidental bomb blast that took place at United North block Burma camp in Dimapur around 11:30 AM today.
As per a source from the locality, the blast took place as the scrap collector was trying to break open a shell somewhat like a bomb shell and was hitting with a hammer to collect the wires inside. The victim died on the spot and 2 persons among the 4 injured are in critical condition. All 5 including the deceased are non- Nagas, the source informed.
The, DCP, Zone-1, Dr. Naieem Mustafa who was at the scene updated that the bomb suspected to be World War bomb shell exploded when an iron scrap collector was pounding with a hammer.
The victim’s house was also partially damaged by the impact of the blast. All the four injured including a woman were immediately rushed to hospital for medical treatment. More details awaited.
