Kohima, February 08 (NEx): Beauty With A Purpose Project (BWAP) under the theme- Livelihood Generation & Education, aims to cover all the 12 districts of Nagaland, to Reconnect with our ROOTS.
BWAP project supervised by Beauty & Aesthetic Society Of Nagaland (BSAN) in association with Entrepreneur Associates and travel partner India Trail has successfully visited three Districts in a row. With the support from district administratives as well as district partners, it provided the opportunity for the team to travel across the districts into some of the most remote villages, a press release said.
So far, the team had visited remote villages like Chepoketa under Phek district, Beisumpui under Peren district and the oldest Kuki village called Songlhuh which is more than 300 years old. The team also visited the England Range and the first soap factory in Wokha district. They are now headed for Zunheboto and Mokokchung districts.
Given the tag to it’s various districts from being “The Land of Plenty to The Land of Traditions to The Land of Virgin Forest” and many more, Nagaland is excessively blessed with numerous astonishing history, magnificent Culture and traditions and surrounded with spectacular Flora and Fauna.
Today, Nagaland has thousands of Farmers and Street Vendors who still keep alive the spirit of the essence of Agriculture in Nagaland. Agriculture though being the main occupation of Nagas, have been neglected over quite sometime. We have certainly refused to build up our farmers and practiced “Made in Nagaland” in a very small-scale.
Undoubtedly, we are still underdeveloped with lack of facilities to all kinds of resources and we have been extremely dependent on the resources outside of our State rather than utilising and conserving what we have with us and how we can develop the use of our resources, it said.
Miss Nagaland, Vikuonuo Sachü said, “In remote parts of Nagaland, life out there is poor and sad, also unimaginable. From not being able to receive the facilities of proper drinking water, lack of electricity supply, lack of public transport, lack of medical healthcare facilities, lack of marketing source and due to the unavoidable road condition there are places where people are unable to even reach the government offices.
Due to this, there is an increase of Child labour, and also there are parents whose children now live in different towns and cities for education and parents who cannot support their children are eventually losing a future.
All this small necessities that we are missing out are the reason why we are lacking behind this developed world.
We believe that through this project we would be able to picturise Nagaland at it’s worst to the best and educate our younger generation to start practicing “Made in Nagaland” to be self sufficient, also allow people from all parts of Nagaland to grow with unity and peace. Our vision to develop Nagaland is our ultimate mission”- unquote.
