Assam Rifles seizes contraband worth over Rs. 3.45 crore from Dimapur district in Nagaland, four (4) persons arrested and handed over for further investigation

Kohima, June 19 (NE): Assam Rifles through a press release on Friday informed on seizing of contraband worth Rs. 3.45 crore approximately, in two different operations in Dimapur districts.

In a major blow to the nefarious activities of inimical elements, troops of Assam Rifles seized contraband amounting to Rs 3 Crore at Oriental Colony on June 19, 2020.

A press release from the PRO HQ IGAR (N), said that based on specific information about consignment of contraband, troops of Assam Rifles and police representative launched an operation in general area Oriental Colony, Dimapur on June 19, 2020.

During the search of a suspected Godown,1550 bags of Areca Nut amounting to Rs 3 Crore was seized. Lalan Kumar, r/o Rajapakse, Vaishali village, Bihar was apprehended.

The apprehended individual alongwith recovered items was handed over to Assistant Commissioner of Custom, Dimapur for further investigation.

In another incident, troops of Assam Rifles seized contraband on the way from Manipur to Dimapur amounting to Rs 45.3 lakh at Ghaspani on June 18, 2020.

A press release from the PRO HQ IGAR (N) said that based on specific information about consignment of contraband, troops of Assam Rifles established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post in general area Zubza and Lalmati on NH 29 on June 18, 2020.

During spot checking of vehicles, two trucks were intercepted carrying 135 bags of Areca Nut amounting to Rs 45.3 lakh.

Three individuals were apprehended and handed over to Custom Preventive Division, Dimapur alongwith recoveries for further investigation.
