Kohima, June 23 (NE): The Shamatore Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted civil administration in restoring Noklak – Tuensang road, disrupted due to a major landslide which occurred on Monday, June 22, 2020, during the heavy and incessant rainfall.
The road being the only lifeline used by residents from the two towns required to be cleared urgently to enable the movement of essential supplies. The initiative by the Assam Rifles was appreciated by residents who also participated in the restoration effort, said a press release from PRO HQ IGAR (N) on Monday.
Assam Rifles distributes umbrellas:
Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles also organized free distribution of umbrellas at Yakshu, Changlangshu and Wangti village on June 06, 08 and 12 respectively. The distribution was carried out with an aim to assist unprivileged and needy residents, especially the aged, women folk, and 100 umbrellas were given out, said the press release.
Besides the distribution, residents were also encouraged to advocate for peace and harmony so that progress and development can gain pace in the region.
