Assam Rifles Organized Beating The Retreat At Kohima

Kohima, January 30 (NEx): Chieswema Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR (North) organised one of its kind, beating the retreat at Kohima- “Ek Shaam Shaheedo Ke Naam”, a unique display of traditional and military culture by the fusion of Brass, Pipe & Jazz Band of Assam Rifles at Kohima on January 27 & 28, 2021.

The PRO informed that the event was graced by Governor of Nagaland, Shri R N Ravi and other dignitaries of the Government of Nagaland, alongwith Major General V P S Kaushik, SM, IGAR (North) and other Assam Rifles officers, jawans, families, Ex-Servicemen of Kohima, Phek and Wokha districts and NCC cadets, Children from Bright Morning star and ARPS Kohima.

Further, the PRO said that Beating the Retreat marks a centuries old tradition, when the troops cease fighting, sheathes their arms and withdraw from the battlefield and return to the camps at sunset at the sounding of retreat.
