Kohima, May 31 (NE): As part of the District Task Force and COVID Control Committee, Kohima Battalion is proactively participating in all endeavours of the civil administration to deal with this pandemic in Kohima and also the AR under HQ IGAR (N) has been extending helping hand in many places in the state.
Assistance to Civil Administration
The Assam Rifles in it’s initiatives to support the Civil Administration in its efforts to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, Kohima Bn Assam Rifles has provided Tin sheets for setting up of soakage pits at the Quarantine facility in Merima and Chedema village, Kohima.
Felicitation of Selected Students for Sainik School, Punglwa
Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) felicitated candidates selected for Sainik School, Punglwa for the academic year 2020-21 on May 29, 2020 with their proud parents amidst. Tuensang Battalion had conducted coaching to assist aspirants in their preparation for Sainik School entrance exam. 47 aspirants from Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto, Longleng and Mokokchung district availed the coaching facility. Out of which 21 students had cleared the AISSEE.
In an interaction that followed, the children were motivated to excel in life.
Assam Rifles Restores Vital Road Link
Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted civil administration in clearing off blockade along Chenmoho-Chenloiso road on May 29, 2020. Heavy and incessant rainfall had caused landslides in numerous stretches between Chenmoho village and Chenloiso village of Mon District.
The road being the only lifeline used by residents from the two villages required to be cleared urgently to enable the movement of essential supplies to the villages.
This initiative by the Assam Rifles was appreciated by residents of both villages.
Interaction with GBs at Lungwa Village
In pursuit of the fight against prevention of spread of COVID-19 and as part of ongoing effort to reach out to the local populace, Mon Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(N) conducted an interaction meeting with village functionaries of Lungwa on 29 May 29, 2020. Various measures to prevent the spread of virus were highlighted by the Commandant. Assurance for all necessary assistance by the Assam Rifles.
