Kohima, September 20 (NEx): Assam rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) carried out various activities across the state amidst the pandemic and beginning of unlock-4. The PRO, HQ IGAR (N) through a press release informed about the activities below:
Interaction with Ex-servicemen at Lazu:
Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) carried out interaction with Ex-Servicemen at Lazu, on September 19, 2020. Ex-
serviceman was briefed about the importance of support of village authorities at the base level with cooperation of the local people to ensure. The meeting was attended by approximately 25 people to include
Rajas of villages, GBs, Policemen and Ex-Servicemen.
Assam Rifles Restores Road in Border Areas:
Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North)
assisted the villagers in restoring Lopfukhong – Khongjiri border road on September 19, 2020, which was disrupted due to numerous landslides.
The road being the only lifeline for the residents of the border villages of Lopfukhong, Khongjiri & areas further south was cleared for resumption of traffic. The prompt response from the Assam Rifles personnel was appreciated by residents who also participated in
the restoration effort.
Assam Rifles provides Medical Assistance:
Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) reached out to local populace by rendering Medical Assistance and providing essential commodities at Zeme Women Organisation Children’s Home, Peren on September 19, 2020. In a resolve to jointly fight the pandemic, the locals were encourage to strictly abide by the COVID-19 protocols for their own safety and their loved ones. A total of 18 children and Six staff members attended the event. The participants acknowledged the efforts of the Assam Rifles and expressed gratitude for their selfless services.
Assam Rifles organised Medical Camp at Mhainamatsi:
Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(N) conducted a medical camp in collaboration with Veterinary college Staff at Mhainamatsi, Jalukie on September 19, 2020. A medical team provided free health check- up, medical consultancy and medicines for individuals and animals of the village. A total of 243 residents and 26 pet animals were provided medical treatment. Residents were also briefed about the preventive measure to be taken against COVID -19 and monsoon related ailments.
Assam Rifles Conducts Tree Plantation Campaign:
Ghaspani Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N)
organized tree plantation drive at Medziphema, Zubza, Piphema,
Kukidolong & Nihokhu on September 19, 2020 with an aim to reduce impact of global warming and to maintain ecological balance. A total of 1413 Saplings, to include locally available flora and fruit- bearing trees were planted. The Assam Rifles will continue to organize such activities year around as part of
the ‘Go Green’ initiative of the Country.
Assam Rifles reaches out to Orphanages in Kohima:
Commander 5 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) reached out to the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, Bright Morning Star Children Home and Tabitha Enabling Academy, by providing food items and basic essential to safeguard against COVID-19. Mrs Neibanuo Angami, Convenor of Kohima
Orphanage and Destitute Home, Ms Alenou, Convenor of Bright Morning Star Children Home and Ms Ati Principal of Tabitha Enabling Academy expressed their gratitude and lauded the sincere efforts of Assam Rifles.
