Kohima, August 01 (NEx): Various battalion of Assam Rifles in different parts of the state continues to assist the public. Recently, the AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted the villagers of Pungro in building Agro-farming shed and road restoration work at Shamatore.
Agro farming shed for residents of Village Pungro
Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) facilitated residents of Pungro village with an Agro Farming Shed which caters for fruit sapling nursery, stocking of agriculture produce and shed for workers. The facility was inaugurated on July 31, 2020 by Brig. Abhinav Gurha, Commander 5 Sector Assam Rifles in the presence of VCMs, Pungro village and Chairman YTC.
The newly inaugurated Agro farming shed includes provisions for requisite farming tools rain water harvesting with storage facility of 2000 litres to ensure water supply for sustained development of the nursery and fruit orchard.1000 sapplings of fruit bearing trees (assorted type) was also handed over during the inaugural event.
The Villagers Council Members and residents expressed profound gratitude to the Security Forces for the initiative towards promoting self- reliance.
Road Restored for traffic:
Shamatore Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted civil administration in restoring Noklak – Tuensang road link, disrupted by landslide on July 28, 2020.
The road being the only lifeline used by residents from the two towns required urgent clearance to facilitate movement of essential supplies. The joint effort of troops of Assam Rifles and local residents in the restoration effort speaks volumes of the need to work hand-in-hand for common good.
