Assam Rifles conducts tree plantation drive and free medical camp

Kohima, July 13 (NEx): The Assam rifles through a press release reported of the various activities conducted under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) in different villages during the pandemic crisis of COVID-19.

Tree Plantation Drive at Kiphire, Phek and Shamatore

Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) carried out tree plantation drive on July 12, 2020, in a bid to promote clean environment for future. The plantation drive was meticulously organised wherein a total of 795 saplings were planted in Kiphire, Pungro, Akhegwo, Longmatre, Mimi and Thongsonyu.

The initiative was received well by the local populace who also participated in large numbers.

Also, Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), on July 12, 2020, conducted ‘Tree Plantation Drive’ under the theme ‘Celebrate Biodiversity’.

To support the cause of green planet and to arrest depleting forest cover, a total of 880 saplings of various varieties were planted. It was a successful event in which all soldiers along with their families participated.

To ensure survivability of the trees, ownership of the plants has been entrusted to the individuals who planted them.

Meanwhile, Shamatore Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North), conducted a plantation drive at Shamatore, Noklak, Dan / Pangsha, Wensoi, Langnyok and Choklangan and in all its posts on July 12, 2020. Tree saplings, including fruit bearing trees were planted by the Battalion keeping in view the climate and soil conditions.

A total of 1850 trees were planted and a pledge taken to preserve, maintain and uphold bio-diversity.

Free Medical Camp at Shamnyu (Wangshu) Village:

Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted a medical camp at Shamnyu (Wangshu) village on July 11, 2020.

Besides medical consultation and distribution of free medicines, the importance of timely vaccination, personal hygiene and sanitation were also imparted. Residents appreciated the medical camp and requested for such camps in times to come. A total of 75 Males, 108 Females and 93 Children were benefitted from the camp.

Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) also conducted a free medical camp at Aghunato and adjoining villages of Zunheboto district on July 09, 2020.

As per a press release from AR on July 11, 2020, a medical team from Assam Rifles in collaboration with Primary Health Centre representatives provided medical consultation and treatment to 226 residents. Free medicines were also distributed and the need for abiding by the safety precautions against COVID-19 imparted. The medical camp was received amid gratitude by the beneficiaries.
