Assam Rifles Celebrates 111th International Women's Day Across Nagaland

Kohima, March 09 (NEx): 111 Ladies of Kohima Garrison of Assam Rifles got together to commemorate the
111th International Women’s Day under the theme ‘Choose To Challenge’ on March 8th, 2021 at Kohima, Nagaland.. Purple, White and Green were the colours for the occasion signifying the colours of the International Women’s Day.

Some eminent women social workers in and around Kohima were invited to deliver a talk on their work, challenges faced and how they overcame them so as to motivate the better halves of men in uniform to be firm under all hardships, the PRO informed.

The speakers were from Tabitha Enabling Academy, Kohima, MIQLAT Ministry, Dimapur, and Good Samaritans Senior Citizen Home, Meriema (Kohima).

As a run up to the International Women’s Day, the ladies also undertook various activities over the last eight days to include a trek to Puliebadze, Visit to Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, and an art & craft workshop at ‘The Art Village’, Kohima, said the PRO.

Nagaland, with the theme ‘Choose to Challenge’, a press release from PRO informed.

The CMO of Mokokchung District, Mrs. Chubala was the chief guest for the event, where she felicitated Ms. Sentikala, Ms. Moanaro Imchen and the Nurses Association of India, Mokokchung with certificates of appreciation for their worthy contribution towards society during the difficult times of COVID-19 in Mokokchung.

Also, representatives from diverse fields such as Teachers, Doctors, Shopkeepers, Farmers and Housewives of various Self Help Groups from Mokokchung shared their stories of sacrifice, experiences and expectations, to motivate women to strive for their rightful place in the society.

A total of 100 ladies attended the event who expressed their gratitude towards Assam Rifles for such a noble initiative.

Also, Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) celebrated International Women’s Day at Aboi and Dessoi in Mokokchung District, Nagaland on Monday with the theme Women in Leadership : achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 World.

During the event, a lecture was organised for Women Youth Council of New Chungtia, Watimyim and Longtho. An Extempore Competition was also organised on the same theme, the PRO said.

The event saw enthusiastic participation of numerous ladies, out of which the top 3 participants were given prizes. A medical camp was also organised at Aboi where, 135 ladies were benefited.

Ghaspani Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR (N) celebrated International Women’s Day at Medziphema, Nihoku, Kukidolong, Jharnapani and Zubza, Kohima District, Nagaland Monday, the PRO informed.

Assam Rifles personnel conducted lectures, meetings and interaction with the local woman in the town and villages during the day. Aspects on Women Empowerment & Importance of Corona Vaccination were deliberated upon which was followed by distribution of sweets.

Drawing Competition For Girl Students Organised At ITC Dan, Tuensang on account of IWD:

Shamatore Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted a Drawing Competition with International Women’s Day theme at the border village of ITC Dan, Tuensang District, Nagaland on Monday.

The competition was conducted with an aim to educate young girls about the achievements of Indian women in varied fields.

Also the girl children were motivated and educated regarding various career options available for girls in today’s India. The Competition and Awareness lecture was highly appreciated by local community, the PRO said.
