Kohima, June 18 (NE): As part of the ongoing crackdown to prevent illegal activities, the troops of Assam Rifles in an operation apprehended three drug peddlers near Chedema village in Kohima District of Nagaland on June 16, 2020.
A press release from the Assam rifles today, said that the troops, based on specific input regarding a consignment of contraband, launched an operation and apprehended three drug peddlers from the area.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Neikuo Toshi, age 30 yrs, r/o Lower T Khel; Seyiekhrielie Zao, age 33 yrs, r/o Jail Colony and Theja Mere, age 31 yrs, r/o Lower Bayavu Hill, Kohima District.
During the operation, the troops also recovered one Point 22 mm Pistol, two Point 22 mm rounds of ammunition and approximately 15 grams of Brown Sugar amounting to Rs. 1,50,000.
The apprehended persons along with recovered items have been handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigations, said the press release.
In another incident, troops of Assam Rifles seized IMFL in general area Kushiabil, Dimapur on June 17, 2020.
A press release by the AR said that, based on specific intelligence regarding consignment of contraband, troops of Assam Rifles launched an operation in general area Kushiabil, Dimapur and apprehended Tokiyo Sumi, age 24 year, r/o Kushiabil village.
Recoveries included 43 cases of Rum MC Dowell’s and 15 cases of Kingfisher Beer amounting to Rs 2,20,000.
The apprehended individual alongwith seized liquor was handed over to East police station, Dimapur for further investigation, added the press release.
