Assam rifles, Army conduct various activities in Nagalanda

Kohima, April 09 (NEx): The Assam rifles batallion alongwith the Army conducted various activities in assisting the public in different parts of Nagaland.

Assam Rifles assists Senior Citizens & Child Care Orphanage at Ngwalwa, Peren:

The Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) assisted Senior Citizen Home with Solar Lanterns and Child Care Orphanage with Health Awareness Drive at Ngwalwa, Peren District, Nagaland on April 8th, 2021.

The PRO informed that the campaign focussed on raising awareness amidst Covid situation with the elderly people and young kids of the orphanage. The senior citizens were delighted & emotional to see young kids visiting them.

The elderly people were also gifted solar lanterns and other essential items. A total of six elderly people along with 15 kids were benefitted.

Assam Rifles & Army Jointly provided assistance for levelling ground at Wokha;

The Chieswema Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) in a joint effort with Indian Army provided dozer and JCB assistance at Queens Mary College and St Peters School at Longsa, Wokha District, Nagaland on April 8th, 2021 to level a ground.

The PRO HQ IGAR, (N) said that the ground at St Peters School and the newly built Queens Mary College was very undulating, lying unused and was very discomforting to the students going to the school.

On the request of most Rev. Mr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, two JCBs and One Dozer were provided by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles over the past two months. The Heavy Earth Equipment has been continuously working in order to level the ground and provide a road cutting and alignment to both the institutions, PRO added.

The initiative by the Armed Forces has been well appreciated by the local populace and the Church authorities and is a major contribution for the education of children and towards building a better and prosperous Nagaland, the release said.

Assam Rifles & Army Organise Veterinary and Medical Camp:

(Free veterinary and medical checkup camp conducted at Seyochung Town, Kiphire District, Nagaland on April 8th, 2021)

PRO also informed that Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a free veterinary and medical checkup camp at Seyochung Town, Kiphire District, Nagaland on April 8th, 2021 as part of Op Sadhbhavna Project 2021 in conjunction with Mobile Field Veterinary hospital, Rangapahar.

A press release informed that the camp was attended by villagers from Seyochung Town and the surrounding Villages. Medicines for a total of 1419 poultry and 1069 domestic animals were distributed.

A total of 25 dogs and 10 poultry were treated for major diseases. In addition, regular medical checkup and medicines were given to a total of 38 villagers.

The camp was well received and witnessed overwhelming participation from the locals who appreciated the novel efforts of the Assam Rifles & the Indian Army, PRO said.

Also, the Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) conducted a medical camp at New Puilwa, Peren district, Nagaland on Thursday, April 8th, 2021.

A total of 186 villagers, including 66 male, 82 females and 38 children were benefitted from the camp, it said.

Further, the Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) provided emergency medical assistance to a girl at Tening Town, Peren district, Nagaland on Thursday.

The PRO said that a local girl aged 2 years was badly suffering from severe burn injuries on her chest and timely medical aid was provided to the girl.
