Kohima, June 11 (NE): The Assam rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), in a press release on June 10, 2020 informed that the Assam rifles batallion assisted border villages in Kiphire and constructed drainage facility in Dimapur.
Kiphire Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) extended logistics support to mitigate the problems of the border villages in Pungro region of Kiphire district, the press release said.
Based on the request of the village councils, the Assam Rifles assisted the border villages by providing transportation for carrying the rations and CGI sheets issued by the district administration from Pungro to Hakkumote, Salumi and Khonsa.
The genuine concern and continued humanitarian support of the Assam Rifles in mitigating the hardships faced by the local populace during the COVID-19 pandemic was deeply appreciated by the locals.
Meanwhile, the AR also provided drainage facility at Darogajan village who were faced with perpetual water clogging issue in the locality that posed undue risks for spread of waterborne and communicable diseases, especially during onset of monsoon, said the press release.
Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) constructed a drainage facility and officially handed over charge to the village functionaries of Darogajan, Dimapur on June 09, 2020.
Residents of the village appreciated the Assam Rifles for their humanitarian approach.
