ANCSU organizes state wide candle light vigil’, concludes education tour

Dimapur, March 6 (NE): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) organized a ‘State Wide Candle Light Vigil’ on the issues and matters confronting the students community in all the affiliated colleges of the union on Thursday, March 05, 2020.

The candle light vigil program also concluded the education tour of the union with a mass prayer at Kohima Science College (Autonomous) Jotsoma. As part of its education tour, ANCSU visited 24 colleges in the year 2019 and visited 21 colleges in the year 2020.

Press release from ANCSU said that, during the education tour ANCSU sensitized the students on scholarship, and appealed those students not entitled for scholarship to give up on applying. The Union apprised the students that the union could detect 18 kinds of scholarship schemes, which ANCSU has demanded that it should come under a common nodal cell.

Further, ANCSU regretted that despite the cabinet approval and notification issued for setting up of the cell in the month of October 2019, the students are yet to see the cell functional, stated the release.

Some of the other core issues the union have raised during the tour and candle light vigil program includes the recruitment of 110 Assistant Professors post through NPSC, land issues in government institutes/colleges, setting up of Academic Council, Principal in all government colleges, recognition of performing private colleges, importance on UGC guidelines for colleges and Nagaland University related matters.

The union re-affirmed its commitment towards working for the welfare of the students community.

The third phase of touring encompassed, Modern College Kohima, Baptist College Kohima, Oriental College Kohima, Kohima College Kohima, Government Polytechnic Kohima, NIELIT Kohima, Alder College, Sazolie College and Kohima Science College Jotsoma.
