ANCSU indefinite hunger strike enters second day

Kohima: The indefinite hunger strike of All Nagaland College Students’ Union, ANCSU demanding fulfillment of its five charters of demand entered the second day today.

ANCSU officials while condemning yesterday’s police action against the students’ volunteers sitting in protest outside the Secretariat in Kohima by way of lathi charge, splashing of water cannon and shelling of tear gas, said that they would not be deterred to take up the genuine cause of the students till the government responds positively.

Notably, 19 colleges in Dimapur affiliated to ANCSU in support of the demands have called for an indefinite peaceful bandh in Dimapur at 10:00 AM today.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Chief Secretary Temjen Toy said that investigation on the misuse of scholarship fund amounting to 1.32 crore rupees is underway by Lokayukta. He also assured that state government will ensure the guilty are punished.
