Kohima, November 19 (NEx): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) in a joint press statement today, November 19, appealed the department of Higher Education and the State government to ensure that the second and final instalments for Post Matric Scholarship to Scheduled Tribe students (2019-2020) is disbursed to the students within the next ten (10) days from the issue of this joint press statement.
The union(s) while understanding the undesirable circumstances faced by the government functionaries due to the global pandemic, expressed unsatisfaction with the sincerity of the government in regard to matters of the scholarship and reminded the department of Higher Education and the state government to prioritize the disbursement of Second and Final Instalments, of the Post Matric Scholarships to Scheduled Tribe students (2019-2020).
The unions mentioned that the Government of India, Minority of Tribal Affairs (Scholarship Division) has sanctioned an amount of Rs.32,26,37,000/- towards 2nd instalment for the year 2019-20 and 1st Instalment (25% of central share) for the year 2020-21, on September 18th, 2020, whereas, the department of Higher Education and the state government has failed to disburse the second and final instalments till date.
While the requisite procedure to issue drawal authority is well understood, the union(s) said that it will not remain as mute observers when the students’ interests are deliberately disregarded.
The ANCSU and ENCSU appealed the department of Higher Education and the state government to understand the scholarship needed by the students and immediately complete the requisite procedures to ensure that the second and final instalment for Post Matric Scholarship ST 2019-2020 is disbursed to the students within the next ten (10) days.
