Alemla Chang receives Governor Acharya’s Award for her contribution towards the community by providing free training on tailoring, embroidery, beads-making, stitching, weaving etc to help women in empowering themselves to be self-reliant.
Ceremonial program of Governor-Acharya’s award for promotion of skill development among Chang women was observed by Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) on 13th June at CTS hall, Tuensang.
The program was chaired by Chubala, former chairman of CTS, with Mohammed Ali Shihab, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC challenged the gathering to take the achievement of Alemla as a stepping stone towards attaining greater heights. He remarked that Alemla deserved the honour.
Alemla has been giving free trainings since the year 2010 in different categories and preserving the traditional attires of the Chang community. According to her, the motive behind it is to provide employment and contribute towards the society with greater returns.
