Kohima, January 18 (NEx): On the second day of COVID-19 vaccination in Nagaland, a total of 897 Healthcare workers, including Doctors, Nurses and support staff were vaccinated in the State, today, January 18, 2021.
Dr. Ritu Thurr, State Immunization Officer, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland informed that, Covishield vaccine was safely administrated to 897 health care professionals on the second day in all districts of Nagaland.
The vaccination was conducted across 22 sites including private hospitals today. Health care workers from both public and private facilities were vaccinated safely with much enthusiasm, stated Dr. Ritu Thurr.
Earlier, on the first day of the vaccination drive, a total of 561 Healthcare Workers across 9 Districts in Nagaland were vaccinated for COVID-19 on Saturday.
Till date, 1458 health care workers were vaccinated in Nagaland, Dr. Thurr informed.
The SIO also informed that all vaccinated workers will receive the subsequent second dose after 28 days and COVID-19 appropriate behaviours will be strictly maintained even after the vaccination.
The state Immunization officer also said that the first phase of Vaccination is reserved only for pre-registered health care workers as they are at the highest risk of infection and also to reduce transmission to patients when caring for them. All vaccination sites are entered in COWIN portal and all beneficiaries are verified with photo identity card before receiving the vaccine, Dr. Thurr added.
Thurr also urged citizens not to spread rumours and spread fake messages around the COVID-19 vaccination. The Covishield vaccine has undergone all preclinical and clinical trails and is safe for use in general population, the doctor added.
Over 3.81 lacs beneficiaries vaccinated in India;
A total of 3,81,305 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in India till today through 7,704 sessions, as per the provisional report, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
1,48,266 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 5 pm today, the third day of nationwide COVID-19 vaccination. Final reports would be completed for the day by late tonight, said Health Ministry.
