39 Chennai returnees reaches Peren district

Peren, June 02 (NE): Peren district received its 39 Chennai returnees who reached Jalukie in two NST buses today, June 02, 2020, after they tested negative for COVID-19 from Dimapur. Among them, 34 are male and 05 female.

On their arrival, a short welcoming program was conducted by Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship, Jalukie town, where a prayer was said by Rev. D Haisuang (Pastor Zeme Baptist Church, Jalukie town).

Thereafter, the returnees underwent Thermal screening and necessary details were collected by Medical Department. Words of encouragement was delivered by JAC Convenor, Dr. Tumda Newme, afterwhich, male returnees were escorted to JNV QC and female returnees to Govt. Middle School, Sector A, Jalukie. Gift packages were also distributed by BBBP Peren.

The returnees were received by District Administration Peren, Medical Department, Police Personnel, Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship, Jalukie town, JAC and DPRO staff.

On May 22, 2020, a total of 1289 stranded persons of Nagaland from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, reached the state in the Special Shramik Train which started from Chennai Central railway station on May 19, 2020.

As per SOP, the returnees of Peren district, after they tested negative for COVID-19, were transported to their district for further quarantine.
