23,977 beneficiaries administered Covid-19 vaccine across the state

Kohima, February 19 (NEx): A total of 23,977 healthcare workers and frontline workers were administered the Covid-19 vaccine, Covidshield so far across the state, the health department informed.

Out of this, 12,149 front line workers (FLWs) and 8409 healthcare workers (HCWs) received the first dose of COVISHIELD vaccine, taking the total number of beneficiaries vaccinated with first dose to 20,558. Also, 3419 HCWs were administered the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Till date, 10.1 million doses of COVISHIELD & COVAXIN have been administered across the country. Only minor side effects like fever, body pain, malaise, headache, pain at injection site, etc are expected in some beneficiaries after the vaccination, which will subside in 24-48 hours. This is just the body responding to the vaccine and is considered good, Dr. Ritu Thurr, State Immunization Officer, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland informed.

Meanwhile, the SIO also informed that the last date for HCWs vaccination is February 20th, 2021, which will be followed by mop up sessions till February 25th, 2021.
