1st Ntu Martyrs’ Open Volleyball Tournament Kicks off today

Peren, April 06 (NEx): The 1st Ntu Martyrs’ Open Volleyball Tournament kicked off today, April 6th, 2021 at Ntu Village under Tening Sub – division, Peren District With Namri Nchang, Advisor for Water Resources Dept GoN, as the Special Guest.

The tournament was organised in memory of five martyrs of Ntu village who sacrifice and laid down their lives in defending the village and the Nagas’ pride during the late 1950’s.

Speaking at the function, Advisor Namri Nchang emphasized on the importance of sports and how sports can mould a person’s life. He stated that sports is a part of self education and improves health and motivate oneself in various walks of life. He encouraged the participating teams to fight for glory with the best that is in them.

To be a good sports person, he urged the gathering to be physically and mentally fit and prepared, and to look at how others excel at various levels both National and International. He also spoke on the various policies of the govt. and how the govt. of the day is taking up numerous plans and programs in the country and the states, and said that Khelo India, Catch them young tournament has been launched to encourage and pick up young talents in the state.

The Advisor further urged the people to be broad enough and learn to identify the virtuous elements in the society, so as to lead a healthy and peaceful environment within the people at the village and societies in general. In this regard, calling the Ntuma Villagers a pioneer in every field, he urged the people from Ntuma Village to lead its people in all front.

He also asked the gathering to strive for excellence and work hard to be successful in every field and to be productive and generate income in order to boost the economy of the land with its rich resources.

The program was chaired by Papibo Pamai and short speeches were also delivered by K. Azanbo and Neiba Newmai.
