14th Jalukie Valley Open Football Tournament underway on February 18 at Jalukie, Peren

Dimapur, February 19 (NE): The 14th Jalukie Valley Open Football Tournament 2020, which is organised by the Jalukie Valley Youth Organization (JVYO) kicked off on Tuesday, February Eighteen at Jalukie ‘B’ Local Ground, Peren district.

The tournament was declared open by Shri. YM Yollow Konyak, MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly), Nagaland. In a notification, the organiser said that while rejuvenating old memories of his young days as a footballer, Shri Yollow has said that Football is one of most disciplined games and urged all players to play with honour and responsibilities. He mentioned that there is immense talent amongst the Nagas, citing Dr. T. Ao, he challenge all the players to excel and also hope that a ‘star player’ will emerge in the days ahead.

Mr. Machigwang Mpom, the president of JVYO welcomed all the participating teams and highlights the background of the tournament. He also expressed his gratitude to Shri. Masang, PS to former CM of Nagaland, Shri. TR Zeliang and Advisor, JVYO, for assisting the organization financially, physically and morally, in organising the tournament. Mpom also mentioned that without him the tournament would not have materialized.

The inaugural ceremony witnessed a huge participation of spectators across all age groups and was chaired by Shri L. Johnson, Advisor, JVYO. Opening spotlight and a special song was presented by Jalukie ‘B’ Baptist Church Youth Department.
The tournament will conclude on February 25. And the prize money is Rs. 1 lakh for the champion and Rs. 50,000/ for the Runner-up.
