13th AST Conference held at Old Mangakhi village, Tuensang district

Dimapur, January 12 (NE): The 13th Akehta Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang (AST) General Conference got underway with a Theme on “An Empowered Women,” at Old Mangakhi Village, Tuensang District from January 10 to 12, 2020.

In a notification, it stated that on the second day, Shri. Kashiho V. Sangtam Hon’ble Minister Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining and Chairman NSMDC, Govt of Nagaland alongwith Shri. M. Sangtam, Hon’ble MLA were the Special Guests.
Shri. Kashiho V. Sangtam stressed on Women of a particular community like AST to be role models in bringing Peace, Development and prosperity of one’s own tribe and the Nagas as a whole. Many new initiatives and activities have been witnessed by the AST for which everyone must be encouraged and support for such drastic changes by women organisations. He also referred to the best quote on women, “Lean in, speak out, have a voice in your organization, and never use the word, ‘sorry’.” For the growth of the organisations in which we are now, Women are the motivations and sources of men’s success in every spheres which cannot show such outcomes of excellence without women in the family and in the organisations, he added.

Hon’ble MLA, M. Sangtam also spoke on the occasion by giving immense importance to women organisations such as AST. He elaborated that, only unity among the members and the unit can build our societies and the women should be a channel of bringing resolutions and peace making agents in the community.
Many prominent leaders under Sangtam community also spoke on the occasion, some of them were – Shri. Seopi Sangtam, President USLP, Shri. Sejongmong President USGOU, Shri Setsacho P Sangtam Vice President ENPO and Shri. Chonyimong VCC Mangakhi.

More than 2000 members from different units and delegates attended the general Session.
