Zion Hospital; Patient was referred to Dimapur Covid-19 hospital, not to Guwahati

Kohima, April 13 (NE): The Zion Hospital Research Centre Management has issued a clarification regarding the Covid-19 patient who was referred to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.

The Hospital Management stated in the clarification that, they are not aware about how the patient reached Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, because the patient was referred to COVID-19 (District Hospital), Dimapur.

Earlier, the patient was referred as a case of anemia from another nursing home. At the time of admission, the patient did not give any history of travel in spite of asking the same, it added.

The management said that When the patient came back the following day on April 11, 2020 with fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, on repeated questioning, the father admitted that he had returned from Kolkata on March 24, 2020.

After examining the patient and finding high index of clinical suspicion, the hospital contacted the concerned officers at the COVID-19 (District Hospital) Dimapur and the patient was referred to the COVID-19 (District Hospital), Dimapur as per the instructions of the Government authorities. All possible aseptic measures were taken so that no staff or any other patients in the hospital would be infected, it stated.

To clarify matters further, the press release of the Assam Health Minister that the patient was directly referred from Zion Hospital and Research Centre, Dimapur to GMC Hospital, Guwahati is unfounded, added the hospital management.
