Zeme Council Nagaland Clarifies On Alignment Of NH129A

Peren, March 11 (NEx): The Zeme Council Nagaland on Thursday, clarifed the matter on the alignment of NH129A connecting Maram in Manipur to Dimapur in Nagaland, so that nobody take undue advantage and sabotage the project.

The council while expressing gratefulness to Shri. Nitin Jairam Gadkari under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi for sanctioning various road projects in the state with the vision ” Sabke Vikas Sabke Saath”, stated that the NH129A is a dream come true for the people of Peren District which has been neglected by subsequent Govts. leaving the District one of the poorly connected Districts inspite of its close proximity to Kohima and Dimapur.

While welcoming the two lane National Highway project passing through the District, the Council is concerned by intractable unsettled land dispute with western Sumi brothers which ultimately would kill the project even before it could take off.

The Council mentioned that, for the very reason of unsettled land dispute in the stretch of about 13 Kms between Mhainamtsi-Pimla alignment of the said road, all the Peren District landowners withdrew ROWs on February 4th, 2019 to even forego this dream project for the more important land. The state Govt. taking this reality of situation on the ground and inorder that the project get executed for the benefit of all, gave approval for the dispute free alignment connecting Peren to Dimapur via Heningkunglwa to MoRTH. This will benefit not only one/two villages as alleged, it comes to the benefit of all these recognised villages, namely, Mhainamtsi, Lamhai, Dungki, Kiyevi, Heningkunglwa, Ngwalwa, Ngwalwa Town and Virazouma.

Therefore, the allegation of Aqahuto Area Organizations that change of alignment as the handwork of high functionaries in the state government in their representation to the Minister of MoRTH dated February 26, 2021 is not only fabricated but malicious, it said.

Further, it stated that changing alignment again at this juncture when the executing agency has issued tender notices and the tender process is all over, will mean scraping the project altogether from Peren onwards.
