Peren, June 23 (NE): Following the Peren fiasco of sending a COVID-19 positive patient from Dimapur to Peren along with others who were tested negative for COVID-19, ZSUN along with other CSOs had demanded to take action against the erring officials, and also submitted an ultimatum to Chief Minister for better medical facilities in the district on the wake of steep spike in the COVID-19 positive cases.
On account of 7 Day ultimatum which was submitted to Nagaland Chief Minister falling on deaf ears, the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZSUN) and Kuki Students’ Organization, Nagaland (KSON) along with other CSO’s held a discussion with DC Peren which also ended inconclusive.
The rally is being held in Peren today against the injustice meted out to the people of Peren over the irresponsible attitude of the government on handling the returnees of the Peren on June 03, 2020 and subsequent silence on the part of the government to address the grievances of the people of Peren district which is nothing but insult to the people. The gross violations by the government has put the lives of its citizens at high risk, stated a reaffirmation of ultimatum by ZSUN to Chief Minister of Nagaland.
Sources informed NagalandExpress that the rallies will be held at different units of the Union in the following days to come.
It is important to note that 83 COVID-19 positive patients are currently under medical observation at Peren district, whereas two patients have recovered and sent for community quarantine.
Action against erring official, better health care facilities, 100 bedded COVID-19 Hospital in the district with modern facilities, immediately provide adequate tools and machineries to set up makeshift ICU and BSL-2 lab in the district hospital, post adequate staffs in the hospitals are some of the demands put up by the ZSUN in the ultimatum to Chief Minister.
