Kohima, November 05 (NEx): The Election Commission of India on Thursday announced the re-polling date for two polling stations under 60-Pungro-Kiphire Assembly constituency which went for poll on November 03, 2020.
The CEO Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha IAS, in a press release stated that the Election Commission of India on the basis of reports submitted, after taking all material circumstances into action, on Thursday, November 05, 2020 declared under Sub-Section (2) of Section 58 of RP Act, 1951, the poll taken on November 03, 2020 at two polling stations under 60-Pungro-Kiphire Assembly constituency; Singrep (Polling Station – 11) and Kipongya Ward ‘A’, Kiphire Town (Polling Station – 8) against the assembly constituency to be void.
The ECI has declared November 07, 2020 as the date for taking fresh poll at the said two polling stations from 06:00 am to 04:00pm, the press release stated.
According to ECI, 89.86% voter turnout was recored on November 3, 2020. The 60 Pungro Kiphire A/C has a total of 29,500 voters and 77 polling stations. The counting will take place on November 10, 2020.
Five candidates are in the fray for 60 Pungro Kiphire A/C By-election, one from BJP, one from Congress and three Independent candidates.
