The second test on minor girl from Assam is negative, no positive cases in Northeast so far

Dimapur, March 22 (NE): Yesterday a breaking news came from Assam saying that a four-and-a-half-year-old girl has tested positive for Covid19 infection in Jorhat to become first such patient from North East India tested negative in the second test being held at the Regional Medical Research Centre under Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at Lahowal in Dibrugarh.

“The 4 year old child who was suspected of COVID19 and tested in Jorhat Medical College and RMRC, Dibrugarh has been found to have tested NEGATIVE. There is no COVID19 positive case in Assam so far”, said a notification by Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister – Finance, Health & Family Welfare, Education, PWD, Transformation & Development, Government of Assam, India.

In a relief for Assam and entire Northeast India, though the first report tested at Jorhat Medical College showed positive result; her sample was sent to ICMR for reconfirmation, and the test result came negative. With this report, Assam and the northeast at large, has not yet recorded any COVID-19 positive case so far.
