Kohima, May 07 (NE): In coordination with the state government of Tamil Nadu, various organizations representing the Northeast states met with the nodal authority of the state of Tamil Nadu Shri.S.J.Chiru, IAS and Shri.R. Sudhan, IAS, for the movement of the Northeast stranded people to and from the state of Tamil Nadu.
During the meet, Tamil Nadu government declared that it is ready to send the stranded Northeast people with the approval of concern state governments. People who want to travel, should register in both the Tamilnadu government online portal for registration and their respective state government’s online portal.
It was also discussed that the concern state government nodal authorities should communicate and do the consultation with the Tamilnadu government nodal authority in this regard to finalise the list of people.
Tamil Nadu government will arrange trains with the railway department for transportation, as per the discussion.
So far, Assam, Manipur and Mizoram state governments are in touch with the Tamilnadu government nodal authority for taking their people from different parts of Tamilnadu with the official list and they’ve prepared to provide all the necessities on their arrival.
The meeting was held with the President of North East India Welfare Association Chennai, Wapangtoshi, representing Nagaland (as Nodal Officer on Covid 19 in Chennai), along with the representatives of the Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya states at the conference hall, Department of Agricultural Marketing Board Chennai on May 07, 2020.
The meeting also concluded that all the respective Northeast state governments should submit the list of the stranded people to the Tamilnadu government so that they can travel at the earliest.
