Kohima, May 16 (NE): Finally, a ray of hope and relief for the citizens of Nagaland stranded outside the state as two special trains will evacuate stranded Nagas from Tamil Nadu as per a notification by the Naga Students’ Union Chennai (NSUC) today, May 16, 2020.
An end to the desperate waiting to return to the State for many stranded persons due to COVID-19 pandemic nationwide lockdown, the first train is said to start on May 19, 2020 with the people enlisted and confirmed to head to Nagaland.
Confirming the report to NagalandExpress, Wapangtoshi, Convenor, NCF Forum, said that two special trains will evacuate the stranded citizens of Nagaland from Tamil Nadu. The first special train bound for Nagaland is scheduled to start from Chennai on May 19, 2020 and the second train for all the North East states is yet to be scheduled.
A notification issued by NSUC, President, N. Chibenthung said that, in the first special train individuals who have registered for travel on the Tamil Nadu and Nagaland state portal and stranded in the districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Cuddalore and Puducherry will be receiving a confirmation call from the concern authority to travel on the first special train.
The second special train is for all the Northeast states, for which the dates will be announced soon. The remaining stranded individuals of Nagaland in Tamil Nadu who have applied in Tamil Nadu and Nagaland state portals will be evacuated through the special train for all North East.
It is also informed that once the date is announced, the remaining stranded individuals from Nagaland will be receiving a confirmation call from the concern authority to travel.
The number of people to travel in the first special train is yet to be ascertained and as per sources it is under process.
